Two numbers from a 2026 beef survey sit almost on top of each other. and that is the part worth talking about. Oxytetracycline residues were confirmed in 82.6 percent of the samples. Resistance to tetracycline turned up in 82.7 percent of the bacteria recovered from those same samples. A gap of one tenth of a percentage point is not a coincidence you can wave away. It says the drug left in the meat and the resistance in the bacteria growing on that meat are two readings of the same event.
