Fish bacterial disease: leaf extract vs doxycycline
Fed at 2 percent of the diet, a methanolic leaf extract of Annona glabra lifted 20-day survival in striped catfish challenged with three bacterial pathogens. Survival landed at 50.0, 53.3 and 36.7 percent against Edwardsiella ictaluri, Aeromonas veronii and Vibrio parahaemolyticus, while doxycycline at 100 mg per kg of feed gave 23.3, 20.0 and 23.3 percent. One caveat: the unchallenged group on the same extract ended at 57 percent survival. Why fish bacterial disease keeps eroding striped catfish margins Striped catfish, Pangasius bocourti, ranks among the highest volume freshwater species farmed in tropical aquaculture areas. In 2023 one exporting country moved about 9.27 million metric tons of Pangasius product worth…

Herbal Anticoccidial in Broilers: What Blood Work Shows
Blood panels tell only part of the story. In a trial that ran 1,200 broilers to day 35, a herbal anticoccidial shifted ALT, magnesium, urea and four white cell types, while nearly every other reading simply tracked how old the birds were. Immune cell counts carried most of the real signal. Why the herbal anticoccidial question matters now Coccidiosis starts with Eimeria protozoa that damage the gut lining, so digestion goes off and birds stop pulling nutrients out of feed. The bill is not small: one estimate for 2016 landed near 10.4 billion GBP worldwide, and other authors work with figures close to 3 billion USD a year. Chemical coccidiostats…
